Frankfurt Gorilla Symposium

June 9-11, Year of the Gorilla Symposium in Frankfurt, Germany. A main event of the YoG

Government representatives, experts, NGOs and scientific bodies will convene to discuss key threats to gorillas and their habitats and to issue guidelines on how best to mitigate them at an international symposium on gorillas.

The event is organized and sponsored mainly by the German Ministry for the Environment (BMU), in close cooperation and with the support of the Frankfurt Zoological Society, the Zoo Frankfurt (venue) and the YoG partners CMS, GRASP and WAZA. The symposium will be held in Frankfurt on June 9 and 10.

On the evening of the 10th, a galadinner will take place followed by the the first meeting of the Technical Committee of the CMS Gorilla Agreement on June 11.

Ian Redmond - Ambassador for the UN Year of the Gorilla - and Princess Odette Maniema Krempin - UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador - signed special editions of the Mountain gorilla and Cross River gorilla art works.
